The Ash-Return

aka Burial of the Ash-Return, The Closing Rite

The Bonesung-of-the-Vale burial custom in which the dead are returned to the ash and their names spoken only by the gravesinger until released.

The dead are not mourned until the gravesinger releases the name. Until then the name belongs to the ash, not to the living. This is why Belethys cannot speak her son's name: the Asheni hold it, and have not released it.
