Chapter 43
The Drowned Fangs
Hessk raiders of the sunken valley who drag the drowned-water's cold onto the shore — and the unwary down into it.
Scaled and cold-blooded, the Fangs breathe the green water as easily as air and fight where land and flood meet, striking from the shallows. They file their teeth and tip their spears with mire-venom; their tide-adepts call the cold up out of the deep water. The settled Hessk clans trade and fish in peace — the Fangs are the ones who went under and stayed hungry.
