Cinder Crawler

A crab-armoured scavenger in the lava flows — fire-proof shell, slow but hard to kill with anything that is not blunt.

The shell is fused basalt that the flow made around it; it grows new shell as it sheds the old, leaving cooling husks on the rocks. Sluggish in cool air, faster than expected near active heat. Hunts by vibration through the rock.
