Chapter 51
The Ashen Moot

The settled old-blood's grudge-court: a standing council of House elders that registers lineage-claims, arbitrates forge-rights, and settles the long Asheni feuds before they become blood.
When two Asheni Houses dispute an inheritance, a forge, or a hundred-year insult, they bring it to the Moot rather than to the Temple or the keep. Its elders keep the lineage-rolls, weigh forge-rights and dowry, and hand down grudge-rulings that even a Lord-Holder is loath to defy. It claims no faith and no crown — only the old blood's right to judge its own.
