The Censors

The Far College's keepers of the locked stacks — who bury the findings too dangerous to publish, and are quietly suspected of hoarding rather than destroying them.

Someone has to decide which discoveries the College does not share, and the Censors are that someone. They seal the deadly research behind locks the Deep Readers can't pick, ostensibly to protect everyone. But a Censor who reads every forbidden page is in a poor position to claim they're above using it, and Archivist Sevenn's stacks are rumored to hold more than they've ever burned. The Censors are the College's conscience and, possibly, its most dangerous wing of all.
