Chapter 14
The Korl Grave-Right
also called Korl burial law, high-passage rite

The Korl custom by which a warrior's weapons are buried with them and the barrow-sealed — no grave-goods leave the tomb without the living kin's blessing, and to take them is to inherit the dead's quarrel.
The Korl hold that a warrior's tools stay with their deeds: the weapon that did the killing stays in the grave that holds the killer. A living Korl may sanction the release of grave-goods as a funeral service — presenting the taken item to the spirit, naming the living claimant, and accepting responsibility. Without this, the taker inherits the dead's standing enemies, the dead's debts, and — the Korl say — the dead's attention.
